I had never heard of OK Soda before. In fact, I thought it was a joke my co-worker was making up to make make up for the untold number of lies I have told him about the Catholic Church. It turns out there really was an OK Soda and Daniel Clowes really did design the cans and cases.
The Baffler (!) on OK Soda. Suck on OK Soda.

It was all designed here in Portland by W+K I think. We have a bunch of cans and posters here. The coolest thing is that some cans actually had a t-shirt in them, and then also had 50 cents taped to the bottom so you could get your soda! Really amazing.

omg i loved ok soda. in design school everyone drank ok from the vending machines because they were so cool looking, but not very many liked it. i actually loved the taste. it tasted very much like this drink i had in germany once called spezi, or something, which was just a mixture of coke and orange drink/juice. ok also introduced me to clowes which turned me onto his comic books titled eightball. tasty!

ah yes, i remember seeing this advertised in wired mag back in high school and being so jealous of the mainland and their test distribution markets.

I grew up in Seattle and spent the good part of a few years in junior high and high school drinking OK soda.
It takes like a mixture of all the other Coca-Cola sodas. I remember we all used to say that it was named for its taste--not great, just OK.

In Providence circa 1994 there were some very nice Clowes-ian Andre the Giant posters (advertising, I believe, "AG Soda"). It might have been the first Shepard Fairey stuff I saw that was mimicking other art styles, and I was kind of shocked to discover that I was not the world's only fan of Eightball (or, for that matter, OK Soda).

Ok Soda was all the rage when I was in high school, but I never made the Daniel Clowe connect before.
A few months ago I drove by a convenience store and saw really old soda barrel (you know, the big tubs thy have by the registered, filled with ice and bottles of pop?) with "OK Soda" emblazoned on the side of it. It kinda made me sad.
